Welcome back, former Scotties! My blog is still active for you to enjoy, though I retired from Highlands in May 2020. There are so many wonderful memories in these photos!

All About MeI am so happy to be teaching your children this year! I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. I spent 12 years in the travel industry, then was a stay-at-home mom (before turning to teaching) and that truly allowed me to see the world and appreciate its diversity. I have visited 6 of the 7 continents and hope someday to claim all 7 by visiting Antarctica.
I have been married 35 years to my husband, and we have two wonderful children, and a sweet daughter-in-law. I am blessed to have one grandson and one granddaughter. We have a furry mutt named Rocco that makes us laugh a lot at home. I was fortunate to be able to volunteer frequently when my children were young - in their schools, scout groups, church, sports teams, band and the community. I began my work at Highlands in 2001 in Special Education. I have been teaching First Grade here since 2004, and am the Team Leader. I was very honored to represent Highlands as the Teacher of the Year in 2012-2013. I was additionally honored by being selected as a finalist for District Teacher of the Year. During my free time, I enjoy time at home with my husband, reading, spending time with friends, traveling, cooking, and watching movies and soccer matches. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family (especially my grandkids!). Your child is special to me, and I can't wait to make some memories. We'll do a lot of singing, and will also make time to paint, dance and create. We'll work hard at school to make real-world connections to what we are learning. I love to find humor in life every day. Please partner with me by reading to your precious child every night. It is so important to your child's success and foundation. Reading to your young student is my favorite part of the day. It's going to be a great year! GO SCOTTIES! |
